Banned Books Giveaway Hop

Reading Lark is very excited to be participating in this fun giveaway hop hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer and I Read Banned Books. The giveaway runs September 28-October 6. Our Rafflecopter form opened a little bit early - so you can enter now. The winner will be contacted on October 7th via email and will be listed on the giveaway page.

Tons of great blogs are participating in this hop, so be sure to check out what's being given away at each blog. You have a ton of chances to win some really great books! Most importantly...have fun!

Our giveaway is for a copy of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. This book was one of the most challenged ones in the 1990's. This giveaway is open to residents in the US and CA only. Please note that the cover art may vary from the copy the winner receives.

According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers and socs. A soc (short for "social") has money, can get away with just about anything, and has an attitude longer than a limousine. A greaser, on the other hand, always lives on the outside and needs to watch his back. Ponyboy is a greaser, and he's always been proud of it, even willing to rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers--until one terrible night when his friend Johnny kills a soc. The murder gets under Ponyboy's skin, causing his bifurcated world to crumble and teaching him that pain feels the same whether a soc or a greaser. This classic, written by S. E. Hinton when she was 16 years old, is as profound today as it was when it was first published in 1967.

  17. When I was in the 8th grade, we had to read several books throughout the year, but we got to choose what we read from a selection provided by the teacher including the Outsiders. There were so many good choices, including The Giver and And Then There Were None that I never got to the Outsiders and would love the opportunity to read it.
